Your Neighbor on the Left Podcast

Your Neighbor on the Left is a podcast done, not by a professional political talking head,
but just an average guy, living life as a progressive liberal in the midst of very
conservative surroundings. Each episode will tackle hot topics for the week, as well as
doing a deep dive on one important issue. A must-listen for progressives of every ilk, but
also a non-hostile way for folks on the right to hopefully better understand their
neighbors on the left.

Tulsi Gabbard’s dropped a political bombshell, accusing Barack Obama of a “treasonous conspiracy” to sabotage Trump’s 2016 win with fake Russian interference claims. But do her declassified documents hold up, or is this a distraction from Trump’s Epstein file mess? This episode of Back Porch Files unravels Gabbard's gambit, Trump’s Obama obsession, and exposes the irony of his own Supreme Court immunity shield—this one is a no-holds-barred look at a conspiracy that’s more fizzle than sizzle.

This episode unpacks the messy collision between open discourse and rampant misinformation, zeroing in on Trump’s recent Cabinet meeting where he spun 11 fact-checked falsehoods—like “no inflation,” “21 million migrants,” and a bizarre tale of “invading Los Angeles” for water. From local diner arguments to national debates, we’ll explore why liberals are jittery about censorship, conservatives are rallying for unrestricted speech...sort of, and how both sides grapple with truth in a post-truth world.

What does a cage-fight on the White House lawn and a 920-page plan to dismantle American democracy have in common? You’d be surprised. In this episode of Neighbor on the Left, we dive into the surreal double feature of Trump’s America: one plan distracts with bloodsport and bravado, while the other quietly rewires the federal government from the inside out. One is absurd, tacky, and televised. The other is calculated, dangerous, and already underway. It’s a tale of two plans — and while everyone’s getting ready to watch the cage match, the real fight is happening behind closed doors.

Was America really founded as a "Christian Nation"? In this episode of Neighbor on the Left, we take a wrecking ball to one of the right’s most persistent myths. We dig into what the Founding Fathers actually believed, what they actually wrote, and why they went out of their way to keep religion out of government. We expose the deliberate distortions pushed by Christian Nationalists — from rewriting history to twisting scripture — and highlight how their agenda clashes not just with the Constitution, but with the teachings of Christ himself. Plus: the real danger to Christians when faith gets tangled in politics. Plus, quick looks at Zohran Mamdani, JD Vance, “Dark Woke,” and more.

Trump’s back, the truth is out, and he’s pretending it never existed. On Inauguration Day 2025, Trump didn’t just set the tone—he set a record for fabrications. Over 20 documented falsehoods, and the next 150 or so days have included much of the same.  In this bonus episode, we dive into the flood of lies that continued the moment he took the oath—fake crime waves, phantom policies, fantasy economics, and the war he said he'd fix day one.  All that, and a look at how the MAGA crowd keeps nodding along like it’s gospel.

Trump promised peace. What we got was war. In this episode, we break down the U.S. bombing of Iran, tracing it back to the collapse of the Iran nuclear deal, Israel’s opening strike, and Trump’s long record of contradictory rhetoric. We unpack why this attack was reckless, how both parties and the global community are responding, and what it reveals about a president who’s out of deals—and out of time. Plus vetting social media, Mayor Trump, Nerd Generals, liberal Fox Polls, and the Nobel Prize for delusion.
